ABOUT
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is the largest art museum in the United States western region. More than 100,000 artifacts can be viewed here, and over a million people every year stop in to see them.
Visitors can view items from many different eras and cultures, including those of Monet, Rembrandt and Renoir just to name a few. A variety of musical and film programs take place at the museum, and a shop is also available for you to browse and purchase items.
EXHIBITS
Stroll through several different buildings and see masterpieces from many different time periods. View collections from modern and contemporary art, such as paintings and sculptures, American and Latin American art, Asian art, and even Greek, Roman and Etruscan artifacts. Items on exhibit include such artists as Matisse and a must see presentation by Stanley Kubrick. The Asian collection has some amazing screen art, silk painting and carved wood and stone items that are just fantastic.
LACMA’s film program offers classics, new releases, and independent films, so there is always something different for you to enjoy. The music program showcases quartets, orchestras and pianists with the finest music for your listening pleasure. Jazz and Latin music are also offered and enjoyed by many. Educational programs for adults and families alike can help teach you the finer points of art. Take a tour, or sign up for an art class. LACMA also houses a library so you can research or further learn about the history of art.
Make room in your visit for a stop at the bookstore or store. Choose from items that reflect some of the artifacts you may have just visited in the museum. Jewelry, books and other gifts can be purchased in the store. When your art browsing has made you hungry, head to one of the four dining venues located at the museum for some indoor or outdoor dining. You can even book a table ahead of time if you are planning a special event at the museum.
