THE COURSE
When Ojai Country Club was first built in 1923, it was hailed as “a marvel of golfing architecture.” Famed architects George C. Thomas, Jr. and Billy Bell wanted to make a course “…that the average golfer could enjoy his round without too great a penalty, and that a test must be afforded requiring the low-handicap man to play fine golf in order to secure pars.” The course succeeded in both of these things.
Over the years, the course has been played by Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Will Smith, Kevin Costner, Michael Douglas and many other Hollywood stars. It has hosted seven PGA senior events and even been featured on NBC. It is truly one of the gems of Southern California.
After World War Two, the course was redesigned. Two of the original holes that Thomas designed were lost. In 1999, the spa reintroduced these holes, which they refer to as “The Lost Holes.” The holes have been fully restored and brought back within the point of the original layout. This adds an bit of historical excellence to the course.
In a setting as natural as Ojai, it really is only fitting that the resort is home to one of America’s premier Southern California golf resorts and championship golf courses. This 18-hole golf course plays 6,292 yards with a par 70, rating of 71.0 and a slope of 132. The many holes challenge golfers in unique ways with four par 4 holes that span over 400 yards. Golfers can try out their skills or improve their handicap at this amazing course.

To walk in the fully restored glory of this amazing retreat, book your tee time today. Tee times can be booked up to seven days in advance. Proper golf attire is required and metal spikes are prohibited.

Led by executive chef Chad Milton, the team of 12 professionally trained chefs and more than 50 other culinary associates are passionate about the food at all or the culinary destinations at Ojai Valley Inn and Spa. The signature restaurant, Maravilla, and all of the other restaurants use fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Many of them are grown directly on the grounds.
Golf Instruction
At Ojai Valley, one of the focal points is instruction. PGA certified staff members offer a variety of clinics as well as individual and group instruction. Unique to this facility, Zen Golf instruction, taught by Dr. Joseph Parent ties together the art of mindfulness with the game of golf for a total life change.
